Add option to set custom framerate cap.#1708

Please add an option like a slider or number field for a custom framerate when the “Cap Framerate” option is enabled.

Currently it defaults to the monitor’s refresh rate. However, I have a 165 Hz monitor and an RTX A5000. When I am running TTS uncapped, I can obviously heat my room. When it is capped to the refresh rate, the A5000 is STILL running pegged to the max and heating my room. For whatever reason, TTS pulls every bit of GPU horsepower from my A5000 to run at 165 FPS.

I would like the ability to cap my framerate at something more reasonable like 60 FPS, to lower GPU power consumption and heat generation while not requiring me to change my system’s display refresh rate in the OS settings.

There isn’t any need for an in-game option. Just use the nvidia control panel since you have an nvidia card. Screenshot attached.

Daniel, I’m on Linux running TTS through Proton. I do not have the same Nvidia control panel as on Windows. Options to cap the framerate are limited. I either use the game itself or a tool called “libstrangle” which was just broken by a glibc update and is also unmaintained. So I’m out of options other than setting my desktop refresh rate lower.

Ah, that’s unfortunate the control panel is not available on linux. It looks like this made the cut pretty fast compared to other issues though so it might make it into the game.

Why is this marked completed? There is no option to input a custom framerate when “Cap Framerate” is checked.
