Batch Import for Custom Objects#3019

Long time user as a game designer, thanks for the environment - it’s been great over the years.

At present, it is only possible to import one custom object at a time (e.g. a tile), which is not an issue if you only have 10 custom tiles. However, for games which require hundreds of unique objects, it is incredibly time consuming to go through this process, which may happen for many multiple iterations of a game prototype idea.

I am aware that there are some workarounds, but none seem to provide functionality and privacy at the same time, for those who have IP concerns.

From what I can gather, the restriction to only allow one custom object to be made at a time is hard baked into the C++ part of Tabletop Simulator, and therefore scripts using Lua won’t be able to circumvent this restriction.

Would your team be willing to either:

• create an extension of the already existing import dialogues to be able to handle importing and creating multiple custom objects at the same time, or
• allow in the C++ architecture for multiple files/folders to be able to be handled simultaneously, allowing for custom scripts in the program to utilise local file paths?

Thanks for your consideration for this feature, and I’m looking forward to the next stages of TTS.
