Play music from Spotify#699

I’d like the ability to play some thematic music from Spotify using my Spotify account.

My current workaround is to spawn a tablet, open YouTube and play something from there. But is has commercials and everyone gets a popup prompting them to load from some url.

I don’t want to login to Spotify on a tablet everyone (ingame) can control and see.

Couldn’t you spawn a tablet in a hidden area only you can see and run it from there?

I didn’t know you could do that.
But I guess they’ll still get the popup to load from some url. And for that URL to work they’d have to send my auth cookie/token. So unless they have access to that it wouldn’t work.
Furthermore if they have access to the cookie/token then my spotify account could be comprimised.

I really don’t feel comfortiable with it

So at that point, it comes down to forcing people to listen to music that they might not want. Do the YouTube thing and accept that if someone doesn’t want to hear whatever soundtrack you want them to hear, they won’t.

I tested it out. The ingame tablet cannot play music from https://open.spotify.com/

A flexible solution would be to register TTS as a sound device in your OS.
Spotify, or another sound program, can then output to that TTS sound device.
Then have a speaker inside TTS (or something) which would use that sound source.

That would work.
Steam already does this so it’s not theoretical :)
