end_turn command does not work in hotseat mode#726

The changenotes for 13.1 state that https://tabletopsimulator.nolt.io/130 has been implemented.
Nothing can be found about it though in the configuration -> controls settings.

How to bind the action to a key (or key combination)?

They essentially just renamed an obscure console command to be more clear, and didn’t bother to make it a proper key binding. If you ask me they just danced around your suggestion and ‘fixed’ it on paper.

Although to be fair Iain King mentioned how you can bind console commands briefly in the thread you linked there, so that should answer your question.

Well I tried to as pictured and that does not work.

Did you test this in an hotset game? Apparantly end_turn does not work for hotseat, but the old hotseat_end_turn works but in turn does not work for non-hotseat games.

Why can’t both just be aliases for a global end turn function that also has an entry in the Controls list, is that really too much to ask?

I did indeed tried in an hotseat game, didn’t have the chance to try in a networked multiplayer game. Thanks for that.
I still believe that an official setting activable via GUI would be so much necessary. Aren’t you tired to see people moving their pointer “up the screen” to click end turn? Eliminating that waste of life should be made as easy as possible ;-)

The more controls that appear in the Control UI the harder that UI is to use - it takes longer to find the control you want to bind. A hotkey for end turn is a fairly niche shortcut, which doesn’t warrant inclusion in the UI.
The end_turn command should work in hotseat mode though, so that will be fixed in the next release.

That’s at least close to good reasoning, but considering there is already 10 arbitrary scripting controls I’m not sure your taking that design philosophy to heart.

You already have a bunch of very niche setting hidden away in the Misc. Settings menu, why not create an additional “Misc. Controls” or “Advanced Controls” submenu?
